Everyone desires unfailing love. This desire is the foundation of human existence.Whether or not they find it, depends on the source they choose. Those who do not know God will only receive a taste of real love from a spouse or their parents. It will only fully be found through the gospel. Let me share with you what I know about this love.
The love of God is like a Father. He disciplines us and reveals our sins through the Law in the Word. He doesn’t just reveal it to us though: he provides salvation and redemption of our sins through the sacrifice of His one and only Son, which is Jesus Christ. That if we simply believe and trust in Him as our Savior, we will be freed from the chains of death and dwell with Him forever.
The love of God is like a Husband. A husband who is faithful despite the unfaithfulness of his bride. It is perfectly depicted in Hosea where the Lord commanded the prophet to marry an adulterous woman to show him the way that the kingdom of Israel had forsaken their Lord with idols, lust, greed, and other immoralities. After receiving the punishment that was due to them, Israel would one day be reconciled, as a husband would reconcile his unfaithful wife. He would then create a new heart and write his Law upon their hearts that they would abide by the covenant just as in marriage.
The love of God is like a Shepherd. A shepherd is carefully watching over all of his sheep. When the sheep stumble, he is there to help them rise up and plant their feet firmly. The same goes for when we have trials and moral failings, the Lord is swift to lift us up and wash us clean when we confess our sins. For the sheep that wander off into the wilderness, the Lord will chase after them tirelessly because of His love. Even if it takes years, those who will return to Him shall be saved. 2 Peter 3:9 says: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
If you do not truly know this love and experience this love, I urge you to contact me or talk with someone you trust personally who does. Without this love, there will be a void in your heart that if left unfilled when you die, it shall consume you for eternity as it has for your breath of a life on earth. This love is found nowhere else but in Jesus Christ who was sent by the Heavenly Father who loves you immeasurably. I testify to this love.
