Today, Wikileaks revealed a massive revelation of the CIA’s hacking program and extensive overreach. This becomes more relevant today because of the increasing political motivations of intelligence officials. It can be referred to as the “Deep State.” This post will be updated as more revelations are uncovered from the large quantity of documents released. As I must remind you, this organization has never been proven wrong in its 10 year history of exposing corruption. There are three key points made in the initial statement from Wikileaks that show serious threats we face from the CIA’s unbridled power.
When Julian Assange was interviewed by Sean Hannity in London, He clearly said that Russia was not responsible for the hacking of the DNC. The man has no reason to lie about this I might add. We have just seen that the CIA department UMBRAGE has possession of Russia hacking malware that can be used to make it appear that Russia’s fingerprints were on the DNC hacks. The CIA was possibly the source of the “hacks” during the election cycle. Now they didn’t give information to Wikileaks because Assange said that the source came from within the DNC, but these hacks were essentially made for no reason other than to provide a cover story to pin Russia as a colluder with the Trump campaign.
Next, our suspicion has been reaffirmed that the federal government has access to every smart phone and computer. Every camera and microphone can be covertly used to spy on Americans. This obviously is a serious infringement of our rights. You might think it’s in the interest of national security and in some cases sure but this is a power that has no limits right now. This power can and HAS been used in other countries to spy on other governments and citizens of interest.
Finally, the CIA hacking has the ability to shut down the computer systems of vehicles. This has been used as a means of undetectable assassinations. When you think about the Leftist leaning “Deep State” that is entrenched in the intelligence community, there is a serious danger that political opponents face. It’s not to say that there is a present danger of US politicians being killed off, but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t happen in the future either.
These career agents of the Deep State need to have their power checked. This starts with raising awareness to the public just as Snowden did, though he still shouldn’t be considered a hero for other reasons. Then Congress should take steps to install increased oversight into the various intelligence agencies. There are checks and balances in all branches of government. The intelligence community should be no exception.
