The Left’s attempts at shaping this country into a socialism mecca have proven to be disastrous. In every instance you find that socialism fails the American people and the world. Obama and the Left used emotional politics and deception to shove the Affordable Care Act down our throats. Hillary Clinton will do the same if elected president and far worse. I’m here to tell you how the ACA has become an unnecessary burden on our hardworking taxpayers.
When Obama took office in 08’, the democrats had majorities in all branches of government. They moved swiftly to force this legislation through a shady backroom deal. You can look up the nature of the passage on your own. Obama used emotional politics to persuade us by saying that it’s a right to all Americans to have affordable healthcare. He promised that if you like your doctor and your plan that you can keep both. He promised that families would be saving on average of total of 2,500 dollars a year on health insurance. He promised that illegal immigrants would not be receiving health insurance either.
Here is the reality. Many people have lost their doctors and their plans. Premiums are going up which means no savings. On average, the rates are going to increase by 25% for 2017. Some states it’s double or triple the increase in a percentage hike. One example is Arizona. Their average standard monthly cost is $196. By standard, I mean the cheapest. In 2017, that number will increase to $422. Not only are premiums increasing, but the number of options is decreasing as well. Again in Arizona, the number of insurance providers will go from 8 to 2. Overall, the number of insurers in the Obamacare marketplace will drop from 232-167.
Socialism means big government in laments terms. This is a prime example of its failure. I want to give one more example on it specifically. The healthcare.gov website that was set up to run Obamacare registration was also a big government failure. A completely political decision was made by appointing Michelle Obama’s former classmate at Princeton and friend Toni Townes-Whitley to build the website. As a result of selecting a clearly unqualified candidate, the CGI firm was given 2 billion dollars to fund the project and it had severe problems and delays. Not only that, sensitive enrollment information such as social security numbers were at risk to foreign hackers and identity thieves because the website was unsecure. A textbook example of the Left’s decisions to grant political favors at the expense of taxpayer money and national security concerns. Just for generalization purposes about federally funded website programs, I cite this quote from the liberal NY Times:
Indeed, according to the research firm the Standish Group, 94 percent of large federal information technology projects over the past 10 years were unsuccessful — more than half were delayed, over budget, or didn’t meet user expectations, and 41.4 percent failed completely
So it is clear that Obamacare has been a failure. I understand that one of the purposes was to mandate insurance companies provide coverage to pre-existing conditions that were not previously covered. However, they essentially went about this in the worst possible way and continue to propose solutions that sound good but bankrupt this country. With all of the problems that Obamacare has had, what is the Left’s solution? They will slowly but surely evolve this intermediate into a single payer federal program. That is what Hillary Clinton has praised in Canada, but yet their citizens go to the US to receive surgeries and other services because their system is largely inefficient. More of the same is not the answer. A completely new direction is necessary. Making health insurance a free market economy will create competition across state lines that will drive the cost down. We already have Medicaid for low income citizens. If pre-existing conditions are still rejected, then perhaps a specific mandate is necessary. A revision to healthcare savings accounts could be an option, but at this point we will have to wait and see. This is a social issue and it has taken a back seat to the big three of the economy at large, terrorism, and immigration. If Trump is elected, a decision similar to what I just mentioned will be made by healthcare experts. If Clinton is elected, we will move towards single payer resulting in poor quality of care and bankruptcy.
